ABOUT US

The Social Scientists’ Association (SSA) is dedicated to investigating how social change shapes the diverse realities of communities in Sri Lanka and South Asia. Founded in 1977, SSA emerged during a period of rapid societal, economic, and political transformation in Sri Lanka. The organization was established by a group of academics aiming to critically understand and respond to these changes, promoting social and political transformation.

SSA is currently engaging in research projects for local and global partners including universities and think tanks. As a part of these projects, SSA is conducting quantitative and qualitative research as well as disseminating its research findings through conferences, workshops, talk series and electronic and print publications.

POSITION: Office Manager

The Office Manager will work under the direct guidance of the Secretary, Treasurer and the Finance Manager. In addition, the Office Manager will serve as the Administrative Assistant to the board of directors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the institute’s administrative functions, including office management, record-keeping, and documentation.
  • Oversee the preparation and maintenance of administrative reports and records.
  • Provide administrative support to researchers and research projects.
  • Assist with the dissemination of research findings through publications, conferences, and other channels.
  • Serve as the Administrative Assistant to the board of directors.
  • Organize the Council Meetings and Annual General Meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Education: Minimum Advanced Level qualification. A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in HR and finance is preferable.

Language Proficiency: Fluency in English along with Sinhala or Tamil.

REMUNERATION

  • All-inclusive monthly salary between LKR 75,000 – 100,000.
  • Medical and life insurance will be provided.

POSITION: Office Assistant

The Office Assistant will work under the direct guidance of the Office Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handling incoming and outgoing mail and packages
  • Maintaining office supplies
  • Maintaining office cleanliness
  • Coordinate with service providers for office repairs and maintenance
  • Assist in the planning of office events
  • Prepare and serve tea and coffee as needed
  • Assist the distribution of SSA publications

QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Education: Ordinary Level qualification and basic reading and writing capacity

REMUNERATION

  • All-inclusive monthly salary between LKR 45,000 – 55,000.
  • Medical and life insurance will be provided.
