Over the last four decades, SSA has contributed to serious sociological knowledge leaps in this country through its theoretical, methodological, and political interventions. For its long-term and short-term projects, the SSA has employed a combination of both quantitative and qualitative methods of research and executed a range of research studies including a number of Large-N –N surveys, needs assessments, monitoring and evaluations, and mappings on Sri Lanka’s state of democracy, party politics, civic space and civic engagement, post-election surveys, caste and class, peace, reconciliation, transitional justice, local governance, labor, political economy, development, exclusion, inclusion, social movements, and citizenship formation.
