Dr. Chulani Kodikara

Dr. Kodikara is currently a Research Fellow at the School of Law, Queen’s University, Belfast and an editor of Polity, SSA’s English language magazine. Previously, she has worked as a researcher with the Consultation Task Force on Reconciliation Mechanisms, the International Centre for Ethnic Studies, the Muslim Women’s Research and Action Forum and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sri Lanka. From 2004-2006, she also worked with the government of Sri Lanka’s Secretariat for Coordinating the Peace Process which was responsible for coordinating peace talks following the ceasefire of 2002. Before taking up her current position at Queens’s, she was an ESRC postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Social Anthropology, University of Edinburgh. Her past research has focused on law as a site of women’s struggles in Sri Lanka and the politics of law reform. Her current research is on transitional justice in post-war Sri Lanka.

Ms. Menaka Lecamwasam

Menaka is a legal researcher and an independent legal consultant based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She is currently the Regional Administrator for the CEU DI Forum for Democracy and Development. Having graduated from The University of Hong Kong with a LLM in Human Rights (Distinction) and a LLB from the University of Colombo, she is a non-practicing Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka. She possesses extensive exposure to social sciences research methods and engages in qualitative legal research, some of which have been published. She counts over 12 years of research experience and has successfully consulted for Intergovernmental and international Non-governmental organizations and provided policy advice to the Government of Sri Lanka on a range of legal and human rights issues, including the reform processes of the Prisons and the Anti-corruption legislation in Sri Lanka and the National Strategic Plan on addressing human trafficking in Sri Lanka 2015-2019. Menaka also teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in public and international law at public and private universities in Sri Lanka.
