The island-wide survey ‘Youth as a Catalyst for Change’ aims to assess youth perspectives on politics in general. At a time when the country is experiencing an unprecedented political and economic struggle, this study aims to inquire into the role of youth as a catalyst for strengthening democratic politics in the country. The overarching goal of this study is to understand youth’s attitudes and expectation towards democratic politics in the country. The in-depth understanding of youth politics that this study provides, complements ongoing and future programming efforts undertaken by the Social Scientists’ Association (SSA) in enhancing political literacy, and political participation of youth. Furthermore, this study aims to contribute to civil society efforts in enhancing youth participation in democratic politics and thereby improve the quality of democracy in Sri Lanka.
