SSA’s research on gender and gender related issues focuses on putting gender in political economy  to examine the interplay of  gender and access to power and resources. The gendered social relations in the context of challenges posed by Sri Lanka’s political economy, governance, representation, accumulation, production and consumption coupled with the uncertainties of the national debt crisis calls for a gender sensitive approach in key areas of public policy and a more distinctive understanding of the country’s political economy.
