Description
‘Polyandry in Ceylon’ is one of Stanley J. Tambiah’s early publications. The research was carried out when Tambiah was teaching in the Department of Sociology at the University of Ceylon. The evidence for the case studies was gathered with the assistance of some undergraduate students studying Sociology, including Sarath Amunugama, Dudley Dissanayake, and P. A. Saram. Tambiah’s colleague at this time, Gananath Obeysekere, often travelled with him to the Laggala region and carried out his own research there.
