‘Politics and Political Science: A Contemporary Introduction’ is the first of a series of resource books intended for Advanced Level Political Science teachers in Sri Lankan schools. It reflects contemporary advances in the field of political science with a South Asian emphasis. It also introduces the reader to classical, contemporary, and more recent trends as well as advances in political science inquiry. Chapters of the book revolve around two key notions, ‘politics’ and ‘political science’, emphasizing the need to return to the basics, in both teaching and learning political science in Sri Lanka. This series also seeks to refresh the interest in politics among practitioners of politics as well as the general public.
